a Journey Through my Life of Reading and Writing

There once was a girl named Kierra MeChelle Thompson. This little girl started to read at a very young age.Although she started to read at a very young age didn't mean that she loved to read in fact she didn't really like to read just the sound of the word "book" or the sound of pages in a book made her stomach hurt. She started reading at the age of four.Kierra really struggled on her reading because she wasn't taught how to read until age five. She  wanted to start school at a very young age and read but she couldn't start school at the age five because her is in September so she had to start school a year late (too bad.)
The first time Kierra picked up a book she threw it down. she didn't know what to do with these paper things with a cloth cover on the outside of it.Years later she found out that this thing was called a book. this "book" fascinated her especially with all the colors and pictures inside of it.when she actually started to understand this "book" she couldn't stand to read another one.Her first years of elementary she loved it because she actually started to read this "book". She read it all the time day and night. She was just starting to read so she asked her mom to help her with some word,Her mom would sometimes say "Go get a dictionary and look up the words i cant tell you every word every time then you wont learn"
Although she loved reading she loath to read she kept on trying and then she loved it. Her motto to keep her going was when her mom would tell her to look in the dictionary . This made her not want to ask her mom how to spell anything or how to pronounce it. Then there came a stage were she had to pick up the pencil and write this was not hard for her to do because she had very neat hand writing. This was her way to express her feelings.
Although reading was a very hard stage in her life it turned out to be the best thing she could do.Writing is Kierra's favorite thing to do when she is bored or has nothing to do.Her communication skills teacher Mrs.Benson has taught her a lot over the past two months. Kierra is getting very involved in her writing skills and is starting to express her feelings much more.
Now she is in junior high and loves this now you learn much more.By following her on her blog.

  1. Kierra,
Looking up words all the time is frustrating. Did you ever learn other strategies that would help you figure out word meanings besides looking them up? I was laughing when you said you threw the book down and your description of how the word book makes you feel really brought me into your conflict with reading. I would like for you to look at your organization of the essay. I get a bit confused as you talk about liking reading and then not liking reading and then liking it again. Were there other events that helped you change your perspective? When did they happen?
